Biography
Dana Dion is a Sydney based contemporary artist whose abstract paintings explore the landscape through atmosphere, colour, texture and gesture.
She studied at Emily Carr University in Vancouver and the Hampstead School of Art in London, and has undertaken further professional development with American artist and educator Steven Aimone. Since 2005, painting has been her full time practice.
In 2026, Dion undertook artist residencies at the New England Regional Art Museum (NERAM) in Armidale and the Château d’Orquevaux in France, further developing her exploration of atmosphere, memory and abstraction.
She has held 13 solo exhibitions, and her work has been exhibited in selected group exhibitions throughout Australia, France, Canada and the United States.
She is the recipient of the Gosford Art Prize, the Belle Property Acquisitive Art Prize, the Art in the Hills Acquisitive Prize and the Hunters Hill Regional Art Prize, along with numerous finalist selections in major Australian art prizes.
Her work is held in public and private collections throughout Australia and internationally, and has been commissioned for residential, commercial and institutional spaces.
