North sydney art prize 2021 - This painting arose after repeated visits to the Coal Loader site, trying to reconcile its somewhat dark and mixed blessing past with foundations for future regeneration and reconciliation with a more ancient landscape. The black captures the coal, the blue and green the water and regenerated vegetation. The latter does not blot out the former, but rather builds on the checkered past — incorporation rather than denial — the spirit of truth and reconciliation. regenerating from a blotting out the dark past
